Out of My Comfort Zone #20

Today's OMCZ is The Colour of Confidence and it was chosen by Vicky who doesn't do this challenge anymore. She wrote:

"My theme is going to "The Colour of Confidence".  For me, red is the colour of confidence and everything I wear it, be it lipstick or clothing; I feel an extra boost. What is your confidence colour?"

I loved this challenge when I read it as this is what it is about. Dressing in a colour that makes you feel good. I instantly thought that I wouldn't just dress in one red outfit, I wanted to tell more of a story.

The colour I have chosen is red. Red is no colour I try to avoid, rather the contrary as I love red and wear red so much that the last year I have had to consciously had to choose other colours as I started feeling like a tomato!! :)

I haven't always liked red, when I was in my teens I used to really dislike red and avoided it for all cost. APART from lipstick.  I have loved red liptick since I started wearing lipstick. Was probably when I was around 16. Red is such a confidence colour to me. It gives me an extra boost and confidence. Lets say I have a bad day and I feel a bit down, putting on red lipstick makes the world of difference. It's like I all of a sudden get an injection of energy. You straighten your back and show that you are a proud woman and just feel on top of the world. I think that red signalizes to your surroundings that you are fierce and don't want to be hidden. You can't be a wallflower in red!!

I also think that red makes you feel warm and sensuel and that again makes your more attractive. Red is elegant, sexy and very visable colour so whenever you wear it you have to be prepared to get attention.

The second best day of my life (after my daughters birth) was my wedding and it was never a doubt what I was going to wear. I wanted to wear a red dress. I looked a long time and thought it was so difficult to find the dress I wanted cause I saw lots of nice dresses, but it had to be red. I wanted something simple without any frills, but still a dress that was a bit different and showed a bit of my personality. The choice fell on a beautiful asymmetrical dress from Igigi in a deep lovely red colour. I loved it.  Red also meant something special to me since it was both my dad and my mum's favourite colour and since they were dead and couldn't be there on my big day I kind of felt that by wearing red they were there with me. My dad was walking me down the isle since I was wearing red. Mike and I did not want a traditional wedding, we wanted a wedding that reflected who we were and not just conform to tradition or what's expected of us cause that was not us.

Most brides get to hear a lot of nice compliments for their dress and that they look good in their dress, only two people apart from my husband said that to me. I don't know why as I think my dress is very me and simple as I wanted it yet stunning, but I think that people are not ready to say that red is a wedding dress colour. It's is dramatic and a strong statement, but I just topped it off by wearing red lipstick as well.

Under you can see different photos of me in red and how important this colour is to me.

Go and take a look what the other girls have chosen as their colour.
I know I can't wait to read them.
