OMCZ #32- Wishes

Today's OMCZ was chosen by lovely Debz and she said

We all have places we would love to shop but can't afford to. I would love to see your wishlist of clothes you would buy if money were no object!

I have to admit  that I've never been one to splurge out too much on clothes or anything else for that matter. I'm a big bargain hunter and will always be. I have a fairly pleasant life economy wise, so I don't lack anything. I love spending money on travel, but I love clothes as well so I tend to buy everything on sale.

But if money wasn't an issue I wouldn't say no if these lovely dresses were given to me.

This beauty is from Carolyn De La Drapiere and can be bought here. It's way too expensive for me, but one day maybe. I love this dress as it is flirtatious and fun. I would love to get a similar style dress made for me for a cheaper price.

The next one is this one

This gorgeous maxi dress is from Marina Rinaldi and can be bought here. I love the print and how they blend the colours. Red, black and white has always been a favourite colour combination for me and this is beautiful.

Talk about colour combinations and this colour caught my eye.

It's also from Marina Rinaldi and can be bought here. I love the colours and the shape of this dress. Very unusual design and I love that!

The last one I want to show you is this beauty from Roberto Cavalli via Navabi.  But at £713 I can't say that it will be seen in my wardrobe anytime soon. But it is stunning.

I Love Clothes, But I Also Love......

...stationary. My entire life I have had a huge passion for  stationary. I remember when I was a child and I used to collect erasers shaped as strawberries (they smelled like strawberries too) and ladybirds.

I was contacted by stationary company, Viking, to see if I wanted to do a review for them for some of their products. I got to chose a few things that I could try from their huge range. I wanted to not go too far from my fashioned themed blog, so I found some really fun and quirky things that link this stationary review with my fashion theme.

Here is what I chose.

* all these things were kindly gifted to me by Viking.

When I saw this amazing Scotch Magic tape dispenser I knew that I had to have it. Doesn't it look great? It makes my desk look automatically cooler and different. And for user friendliness to this unusual tape dispenser I can confirm that it works very well in addition to be very good looking. The stiletto is supported by a transparent disk to give it more support, but I feel that I need to use both my hands to dispense the tape to be on the safe side. But to me this isn't a big problem. I'm so thrilled to have found this and I wish that all stationary was as stylish as this.

I chose quite a few different pens as well cause I have a bit of a pen fetish if I can call it that. I have a huge storage box at home filled with pens, so no doubt I'm addicted to pens.

The first ones I tried were the equally stylish ZebraZ-Grip animal print pens. They are a medium point retractable ball pen that are a lot more stylish than a lot of other pens. I chose these as they were funky and fun. I got a three pack of them, all in different animal prints. So wherever you go, if it is board meetings, university or perhaps a casting call for a modelling job you will always be in style.
I was very happy with the overall experience with these pens. With it’s 7mm point size it is very good as an overall pen. It comes in black ink which I prefer. The pen writes very well and it is a smooth writing experience. The firm grip on this pen is also very good, without fear of the pen slipping.

Paper Mate Ink Joy pens. These pens are my favourite of the lot I tried from Viking. I got a packet of 10 Ink Joy 100 ball funbag pens. I had never tried these pens before, but I was instantly impressed. I loved writing with them. They have an unusual triangular shape and the barrell is a bit rubbery so you get a great grip. They run smoothly over the paper and create a fine line of writing. I normally use ball point pens, but I’m a great fan of gel pens too, and these pens are by far the best ballpoint pen I have written with. With an ordinary ball point pen you can often get gaps in what you write. While with the Ink Joy you get an even line throughout.
These pens are gives you a really great writing experience and I will be getting more of them.

The last pens I chose were this four pack of CristalLarge fashion ball pen in assorted colours from Bic. I loved the colours of them. I have always had a weakness for bright coloured pens, especially if I was to write a letter to someone. Cause it is nice to personalise it a bit with something a bit different than black. These pens looks like normal Bic pens and are just as nice to write with and hold. I wouldn't say they were as good as my favourites from Paper Mate, but I do like Bic pens and they have been my go to pens since I learned how to write. These pens has an extra broad 1.6 mm ballpoint. To some this might seem chunky, but I love it as you get a great consistant colour. It is also very smooth to write with so even if I'm writing for a long time, it doesn't feel like a strain on my hand. The only downside with them is that they seem to dry up a bit quick so make sure you keep that cap on.

You can't buy stationary without buying paper to use your writing tools on. I chose this lovely Noir Mini Journal from Paper Blanks. Once again I have chosen style as this lovely little journal is so beautiful. With its lovely Smyth sewn binding and eco paper it is a stunning little book that I'm going to use as a diary. It has got a practical magnetic clasp and a memento pouch at the back. The book is lined which I'm happy about as I don't like black pages very much.

I also chose some post it notes as I use a lot of them at work. I have all kind of shapes at work, but I have never had round ones until these came. They are from Office Depot and comes in bright neon colours. The glue on them seem to be quite good. I haven't found anything to complain about.

Since I'm a blogger I have started collecting ideas for new post in a folder. I write down every little idea I have so I thought I would get myself a new folder to use for blog use. I chose this red 40 page Display Book

Something I find very useful around the office is bulldog clips. So I chose this box with assorted coloured bulldog clips. They are great! Everyone in the office has got some now as they are so versatile and useful where normal paper clips aren't big enough. They hold a big pile of documents better together than any paper clip as well. For a box of 50 this is a real bargain at £4.55

I got some packing tape from Office Depot as I tend to order a lot of clothes online, but send back about 90% of it either because I don't like the way it looks on me or that it is sizing problems. And then packing tape comes in handy. This packing tape seems very sturdy and it sticks to the box or package very well.

All in all I was very impressed with the quality of stationary and it was also extremely speedy delivery. So Viking has got themselves a new customer in me. I just have to remember to not spend a whole months wage in stationary now cause with that amount of selection it is hard to stay away.

Getting To Know- Mayah

It's time for the second interview of bloggers that inspire me and this month it is my beautiful friend  Mayah from Beautyful Youniverse that I have interviewed. Mayah is a bubbly and inspirational girl with a lot of enthusiasm so I hope you enjoy her answers.

Name: Mayah

Living: I live in London

Age: 26 years old

Blog: www.beautyfulyouniverse.blogspot.com

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since the autumn of last year.

How did you get into blogging?
I had spent so many years hating the way that I looked and hiding away in "safe" clothes. I remember waking up one day last spring and thinking 'my goodness I have been around for a quarter of a century and I have spent the whole time hating myself!' It was that thought that inspired me to get online and search for fun and flattering clothes that us bigger girls can wear. I stumbled over some blogs and it was then I realised that we big girls can enjoy fashion, look good and wear our clothes with confidence!

Why did you decide to start a blog?
I didn't have many plus size friends before I started blogging but some of my online friends that I knew through working in music and running a Michael Jackson magazine with friends inspired me to start my blog. Many of these women saw me playing around with fashion and different looks and they began asking me where I was buying my clothes, how I was putting my looks together etc. I figured rather than answer the same question countless times I may as well start a blog! I figured I may reach some other women and I might find it a good experience and I way to try even more things with my style.

How much time do you spend on blogging?
I would like to spend more time on my blog but as I have a lot of other commitments I try and find a healthy balance between everything, I try to pre-plan the outfits I want to post about or the lifestyle topics I like to talk about and I often write drafts on my phone whilst travelling etc.
Where would you like to take your blog?
As it stands I am working on getting better pictures, and a better layout etc. I try to include a fair amount of detail within my blog, I'm happy with it at the moment but I know that I want to expand on it and make it better than it is currently.

How would you describe your style?
I try to have a variety of different looks. I absolutely LOVE vintage fashion and pinup looks. I find it the style so sexy, fun and comfortable. I love that the style can be casual and chic at the same time as well as being extremely feminine. Having said that I do like to play around with many of the current trends and wear looks that are modern. There have been times when I have tried to blend styles. At the moment I'm having fun with my look and experimenting.

Who or what is your fashion inspiration?
Different things inspire me to be honest. I like it when people inject their personality into their personal style and have fun with their clothes. Too many people wear what they "think" they should wear instead of what they want to wear and I find that so depressing...
Fashion shouldn't just be items we throw on our backs, it should be something we have fun with and a way to express ourselves more. I think people should be willing to at least try on new things and take some risks with their style.

How is your wardrobe?
Full on everything! I am really try to have items that can lend themselves to pretty much any situation or event. The sizes vary too, I have clothes from size 14 right the way up to 28 and all of them fit and I wear them all lol.

What takes up most space?
I would say my vintage petticoats and my jackets lol.

What are you like? The bargain hunter or are you quality over quantity?
A bit of both in all honesty. We all like a good bargain and to get value for money. If I really want something for a special occasion or as an item that I know I will wear a lot say a special dress or a coat, I'll be willing to dig my hands deeper into my pocket. When it comes to those pieces that can go with anything and will slip into different styles I don't spend as much money on them as I know I will wear them out more with wear and tear, washing etc.

Do you blog about anything else than fashion?
Fashion seems to be the main topic of discussion but I do include lifestyle posts and the odd beauty post.

What do you like doing apart from blogging?
As I mentioned before I run a Michael Jackson magazine with friends and a fanclub for him over at www.mjvibe.com so that takes up a lot of my time but it is something I love to do. I absolutely love to travel, see friends, read and create photo manipulations on photoshop, hit the night club... I'm easily amused it all depends on who I'm with lol.
A good dinner and a glass of wine with friends is always fun too lol.

What is a must have item for the summer?
For me it's definitely a summer dress, something that can be worn at the garden party, barbecue or on holiday.

Favourite online and high street shop?
I am a HUGE fan of Collectif Clothing who are on the high street and online. Also Asos is a good one as you can get a bit of everything on there.

Do you have music or TV on in the background when you blog? What do you listen to/watch?
I always have music on lol what music I play changes depending on my mood though I could be listening to a classical score, Michael Jackson of course, something rocky or playing Hiphop and R&B.

Tell us about your best bargain
I would say it was when Collectif had a 50% off everything sale! For a vintage fan I took full advantage and picked up some gorgeous bits that took me through last summer!

That was all from Mayah. Go and take a look at her blog as she is truly stunning and her unique style is worth a look.

New Domain Mookieslife.com

About a month ago I changed my domain from blogspot to a dot com. My new domain is http://www.mookieslife.com and I would be very happy if those of you that are linking to me on your blog roll could update the link to my new domain. Thank you in advance!

For me it was the right time to take my blog one step further and get my own domain. I have been blogging for quite some time now, 10 months to be precise, and I really like it. It is something I know I will be doing for a long time, so by buying my own domain it kind of makes it more of my own blog. Even if it is still hosted by Blogger, I have my own name.

I have had my own websites in the past so it wasn't a very difficult process to change it. I wish I had a bit more spare time on my hands cause there are so many things I would love to do with my blog. I like the simple lay out on my blog as I like it to be clean, but there are some features I would love to get time to add. I will try and do some changes to my blog bit by bit as I think that is the best way to do it for me, cause the last thing I want to do is to stress myself out by changing my entire blog in one go.

I have been trying to think of new features to my blog so I have added two new monthly concepts to my blog lately. The monthly interview with a fellow blogger Getting To Know

Preferably other Plus Size Bloggers, but also other bloggers that has inspired me in any way.

I have also started a new monthly challenge for myself where Mike has the responsibility for styling me for a post.

Both of us had so much fun doing this last month, and I was very impressed with Mike last week when he came to me and showed me that he had already bought one item for June's challenge. From being a typical man with no interest at all in clothes and fashion, to becoming someone who actually opens his mind to look for things he would like to see me in is to me very proud and thankful.

I won't let it stop with that, I will think of more ways to make my blog more exciting for you as a reader. My English might not be as colourful as many other bloggers, but being a Norwegian I think I do quite well. I don't think you can find too many spelling mistakes;) I take pride in my spelling.:)

I would be very happy if any of you have any ideas or tip to how I can improve my blog so don't be scared to suggest things. I like constructive critic as well so just speak you mind. Anything you want to see on my blog then please suggest it? Something you think I should do different or less of, tell me.

I hope that you follow me on to my new domain and that I get a lot of new followers in the future too. Thank you for reading my blog it makes me very proud and humble. Love you all!!

Happy Birthday Mike!!

Happy Birthday My Lovely Handsome Husband!! I love you more than words can describe.

I have just got back from a beautiful day in beautiful surroundings with the person I love so I couldn't be happier. It was such a welcomed break since I have been struggling with my Meniers so much lately. I have started some new medication so hopefully it will make things a bit better as it wears me out.

Bracklesham Beach

I have felt a bit on and off with my attacks today, so I have tried to make the most of it. Mike and I worked half day and then in the afternoon we went down to the coast for a birthday picnic on the beach. We love Bracklesham Beach and we always go there when we go to the beach. I think we are so lucky to be living in Guildford as it is close to London, but still only an hour and a bit to get to the coast. So it feels like luxury to be able to be located so it is easy to get to both.
It was too cold to go swimming today, but I went paddling. I'm a mermaid as I love to be in water.

Arundel

We had a lovely lunch and a long nice cuddle on the beach before we decided to go for a long way round drive home. Mike really wanted to go to Ditchling Beacon so we decided to take a drive through beautiful Arundel and also stop by in Brighton. We just drove through Arundel and Brighton, but Mike and I decided that we have to go back to Brighton for a weekend. I haven't spent much time in Brighton at all and it seem like such an exciting city. So Late Rooms will get a visit from me tonight to find a bargain room in Brighton.

At Ditchling Beacon we stopped to look at the beautiful views and enjoy the sunshine. It has been such a lovely sunny day, so we couldn't really ask for any more.
We have been to Ditchling Beacon before, so we know it is beautiful, but this time we got some extra entertainment by a paraglider who had a show for us. It was so much fun watching the paraglider and taking in the lovely scenery at the same time.

When we came home it was so late that Mike just wanted to end the day with a traditional fish and chips. And it is his birthday so fish and chips it was.

I was wearing a maxi dress out for the first time this year which was so lovely as they are so comfy and still look elegant. I wore my favourite animal print one from New Look.

It's been a lovely day with stunning views and scenery. We are really exhausted so I have no doubt that we will sleep well tonight.

I Love My New Glasses- And Some Less Loveable Ones

It has been some very hard and rough days in my life lately so I haven't even felt guilty for not writing since midweek. Family always comes first and my family has needed me the last few days, so therefore the absence.

I bought myself some new glasses the other day. I had wanted bigger glasses for a long time, but since I'm so blind as I am, my lenses has to specially imported from Japan. Due to the cost of my glasses I have tried buying glasses online, but with very bad results. Unfortunately. I ordered two pairs of glasses from online and both of them gave me blurred vision and head aches, so since then I have been scared trying again. Cause it is not just to get the pupillary distance right, but also get the pupil location in the lense right since few glasses are completely circuar the pupil might be higher up on the lense than the middle. So buying glasses online for me is very difficult.

This is how thick the lense is even with the thinnest glasses.

The lenses get very thick and even when I have the thinnest lenses they are still quite thick so it get quite expensive to get a new pair.  I have stigmatism as well so I could never have worn the cheap Poundland kind of glasses my dad usually wore.

I see so many nice glasses I would like to wear, but I can't afford getting expensive lenses in all of them so I have to settle with a nice pair that can go with everything.

When I chose glasses I didn't want black ones as I think black is very hard against my skin. I didn't want to have anything too vibrant either as I like my lips to be the eye catcher. I use red and pink lipstick the most, but also purple so when I saw these glasses I fell in love straight away. They are two toned with a darker purple colour and transparent parts at the top half of the rim and more of a pink colour at the bottom. They are from Red or Dead via Specsavers and are really gorgeous glasses. I have never had a nicer pair of glasses. You can buy them HERE

Here are some examples of my past history as a glasses wearer through almost 30 years.

Clockwise from top left, me aged 14, me aged 20, me aged 37, me aged 38
I even bought a pair of prescription sunglasses a few years ago. I wanted a pair that was a bit bigger, but due to my thick lenses the optician advised me to go for smaller ones. And here they are

Aren't they hideous? I hate them and the only place I wear them is on the beach! :( I will never let myself be persuaded that they look nice and will look a lot better than bigger ones. Bulls***!

I do prefer my bigger sunglasses that I wear with contact lenses instead. Doesn't take much to see what I'm talking about.

If you wear glasses what is your favourite glasses and colours? Do you have prescription sunglasses?

Wedding Season Ahead

It's getting closer to the time of the year where a lot of people are going to weddings. Personally I have a big mansion wedding that I'm going to in August. It is my niece Amy who is getting married. I'm very much looking forward to the wedding, but for me to be confident with so many people there and a lot of strangers I need to be dressed in something that is making me feel like a princess. I don't know if any of you feel like I do if you are all dolled up, but I feel like I'm floating around on pink clouds and nothing can make me feel different. Just love that feeling. As a wedding guest you have to be discreet so you don't take the attention away from the bride. You can't wear white and I would never wear black to a wedding either. I haven't been to many weddings, but here in England it is important with a hat or a fascinator. I have never worn anything like that before, so I will need to go looking for some wedding accessories soon. In the mean time I have had a look around for a long time for the perfect dress and here are some of my favourites.

The gorgeous polka dot and floral skater dress from Pink Clove. Bargain price at £27 HERE

This stunning dress from Dangerous FX is one of my top picks for my dress this summer. You can buy it HERE for £54.

This amazing dress from Anna Scholz is on top of my wishlist, but I'm afraid I can't afford splurging out £459 HERE.

Something a bit different than the normal dresses is this playsuit from Collectif. It's beautiful and edgy. A bit of an alternativ wedding guest attire, but still elegant. You can buy this HERE for £55, but sizes are limited so hurry.

This dress is so beautiful that I don't have words. I love the colour and the dress look divine. It's from Marisota and can be bought HERE for £140.

When I got married I chose to be an untraditional bride as I chose a gorgeous bright red dress from Igigi. I love this dress and will do a post where I'm wearing it soon. It will bring back memories from one of the best days of my life.

Are you going to a wedding this summer and what are you planning to wear?

Mike's Style Choices #1

I am starting this new monthly challenge today. I have asked my husband to create an outfit for me every month(on the 6th) to showcase what he like seeing me in. I thought it would be a fun project for us to do together and here is the result. This months outfit is quite casual with an edgy twist to it.

For this outfit he thought to chose something for me that was a bit different than the cute dresses I normally wear. I don't mean to say that he doesn't like seeing me in them as he do, but he wanted to create a bit of a different look for me. The leggings are from Primark size 20 and made of a wet look material with a snake print that makes it quite fun and quirky. It's not a secret that I have a slight obsession with mint green and of course my husband knows this so he chose the top with this in mind and also that it would look good with the leggings. The top has got a burnt out pattern so it is quite see through.

He also chose a simple white cami to wear under the t-shirt which I was happy that he had bought as I could never be sure he would just like to see my bra under my top lol....

Accessories he kept it simple, but nice with this lovely arrow necklace also from Primark.

I'm so excited to see what he is chosing for me for next months challenge. He really likes it and I think it is so exciting to see what he thinks when he chose an outfit for me. I think he did very well this month and I loved this outfit.

Would you let your husband dress you? If not why not?
