Mother's Day 1 Jacket 3 Ways Challenge With Curvissa

Mother's Day 1 Jacket 3 Ways Challenge With Curvissa

With Mother's Day quickly approaching and a lot of you probably have something planned to do with your mothers or mother figures in your life. My mum sadly passed away 5 years ago now, but being a mum myself and also having a lovely mother in law I still celebrate Mother's Day every year.

When Curvissa contacted me to ask me if I wanted to take part in a 1 jacket 3 ways challenge together with the lovely Zoë from http://www.mammafulzo.com/ I said yes straight away. Cause what better opportunity would I get to take my mother in law out for a pre-mother's day surprise?

The jacket they wanted me to style is this lovely Pattern Stretch Jacket* in a stunning sky blue colour.

Pattern Stretch Jacket*

It just looked so soft and delicate and a great go to blazer for the spring and summer. When I received it, it was just as soft as I thought it would be with this beautiful pattern woven into it. And the colour! It's just stunning, and so versatile as it will go with most things.

I have tried to make three different looks using both seperates and a dress to mix it up a bit.

Cream Tea

The first look look I did was this dark and edgy leather and studs vs soft textures kind of look when I took my mother in law out for cream tea.

My mother in law is a petite lady, but this photo is rather misleading. She is not THAT little ;)

For this look I wanted to create a contrast of the delicate in the jacket and the more edgy in the PU skirt and I think it worked. I felt very elegant and I got quite a few compliments for this look. I'm wearing the jacket with just a old top that I have bought in Spain, an old skirt from Asos, tights and handbag from New Look, shoes from Barrats, necklace from Primark, bracelet from Evans and ring is my own design.

The second look I wanted to go more girly so I chose to team it with a super cute 50s style dress from Torrid that I bought of another blogger Kerry.

Evening Dinner Look

It's a bit more ladylike outfit and it makes me feel extra feminine. My dress is as mentioned from Torrid, the handbag and necklace are both vintage, flower in my hair is from Accessorize and shoes are last seasons peep toes from Evans.

The last look I did was a more casual, going for a walk in the park kind of outfit.

Walk In The Park

I went for a walk along the river in this outfit and I felt really good. Nice and cosy as well as I layered the jacket with a polo neck jumper from the plus size range at Dorothy Perkins, jeans and ankle boots from New Look and handbag from a street market in Brussels.

These are the looks I created. I love the first look the most, but this jacket is such a lovely jacket that easily makes a casual outfit more dressy. I'm wearing a size 26 as I always size up in jackets due to my large bust. It's a good fit and the jacket is nice and stretchy. It's medium thick so it will be a perfect go to jacket for the spring. It's also one of those jackets that you can just throw on if you're going to the shop or if you're going to the cafe with the girls.

Go over and take a look at how Zoe styled her jacket too at

I would also be happy if you told me which look you liked the best.

#plus40fabulous-Happiness

#plus40fabulous-Happiness

This month's theme was chosen by the lovely Kate over at who suggested that we could write about something that made us feel happy, amazing and excited. And since you can't get enough happiness and sharing it with my readers makes it even better.

I don't think I have been happier in my life than I am right now. In this blogpost I've talked about the three most important elements for my happiness. Despite being in a very poor state physically and mentally, I'm still really happy.

My husband, Mike(and my daughter and family).

I've never been more happy than I have been the last almost 7 years and he gives me dimension and meaning for living despite going through some of the roughest years of my life with losing both my parents and also sending my daughter off from home to get a better life for herself. I've had to be very selfless and learn how to let go of things that had been my demons for a long long time. He has showed me love, kindness and care in ways I never knew existed. He is a great listener and he understands me, even if my troubles are something he might not have encountered before. He has his own way of putting himself into my situation and talk to me in a way that make things not sound so doom and gloom as they seem in my head. When I have my lows he is there to help me up and when I have my highs he is there to celebrate them with me. I can see that this hasn't been easy on him, but despite this he tells me every day how much I have improved his life and that I have given his life meaning too. He has a lovely family as well that has greeted me with open arms and accepted me for me. I feel so loved and appreciated and so does my daughter. She has also been welcomed by both Mike and his family like their own. My relationship to my daughter has also become better since meeting Mike. He has his own way with people and are the born negotiater. And for a teenager that see her mum and dad breaking up and finding new partners is never easy, but Mike has made it so easy for her to like him and he treats her like his own daughter. My daughter say that I have become a kinder, happier and more calmer person since meeting Mike and that is something that makes me happy cause that is exactly how I feel too.

I love all these people!! They are friends and family and what gives my life a meaning <3

Travelling

There are few things in life that I think of as more important than travelling. It's something that broadens you mind, opens your senses and gives you a bigger tolerance for differences and changes, it makes you more knowledgeable and you learn new languages and cultures. I've always been a geek when it comes to geography, history and learning new languages, so travelling was something that become a part of me as very young. I've always travelled a lot. Since I was a child I've always been so lucky that my dad always saw the importance of broadening my horizons by taking me to Sweden, Finland and all over Norway looking for new adventures. We didn't have much money growing up, but my dad always managed to save up money so we could go away for a week or two travelling together. It was no frills or luxury, it was camping and carrying everything we needed in our backpacks. Travelling with bus and train since we didn't have a car so it was hard work. But looking back on it, what amazing memories it has given me. Some of the things I've done is something that is not on the agenda of most people's holidays. I've been washing gold very near the Russian border in Finland, I was trekking in the footsteps of Musk Ox in Norway, I was summer bobsleighing in Rovaniemi in Finland and feeding reindeer in Sweden. These experiences as a child has shaped me into a restless nomad as a grown up with an urge for constant change and I'm on the outlook for new experiences all the time. I'm lucky to have found Mike as he loves travelling too and together we travel as much as we possibly can. Both in the UK and abroad. And common for our travels are that we love going off the beaten track to explore hidden secrets. We don't mind going to tourist destinations, but we always set off on excursions away from the hords of tourists. A lot of people have asked us why we don't save up our money and buy a new bigger flat or house as the one we live in now is a studio flat with limited space. But the truth is that we really enjoy our little flat and we actually own it, so we are more fortunate than a lot of people. To us the materialistic way of living is not our priority. We want to get out there and explore. We are toying with the idea of moving to Spain now for a change. I have lived in four countries in my life so far, and I would love to add Spain to my list too.
Berlin

Nature/Space/Rest

As I've grown older I have become less and less fond of the busy life of a city. Tired of everything that I I used to love city life with bars, cafe's and everything I wanted and needed within reach. But with the years I've realised that I so much more prefer the closeness to nature and a lot of space. I grew up in a beautiful place far up north in Norway with lots of wilderness and beautiful scenery. As a teenager I couldn't wait to move away and get to the cities with lots of things on offer. I needed to get away and see something else. I've always had the need for exploring as I wrote about in the paragraph above. But as I have got older, my priorities have changed and I see myself seeking to countryside and places further away from people more and more. It gives me a special kind of calmness and peace in mind if I'm laying on a completely empty beach somewhere or if I'm surrounded by nothing but nature and no noises to be heard. I remember my dad always saying to me that I would change as I got older, something I would object to very strongly, and now I have to admit that he was right.

My beautiful home place where I grew up and has shaped to who I am today <3

Guest Post: Mike's Denim Choice-A Jacamo Review

Guest Post: Mike's Denim Choice-A Jacamo Review

Mike is a jeans type of guy. He likes wearing jeans and he rarely wear anything else apart from to work. He has kindly offered to write this guest review about some jeans he got sent from Jacamo to review.

When I was asked if I wanted to review some jeans I also talked to Mookie about what I like about jeans in this post HERE ,and that is what I used as a starting point when I chose this pair of jeans.

I chose the Coated Jeans From Flintoff By Jacamo* because I liked the way they looked as in the colour and shape of them. They were also described as coated jeans, but they had just the right amount of coating when I received them. Coated enough for them to be very classy dressed up jeans.
When I unpacked them they felt very good quality material and they fitted really well. I think Jacamo got their sizing spot on.

As you can see these are darker wash jeans because of the coating. Makes them nice for both casual wear and more formal occasions.

I chose 29' length as I'm 5'9 and as you can see they are perfect length on me.

The jeans are a regular straight cut style without too many details which makes them good classic fit. They have a zip fly which hasn't got stuck so far.

The pockets are nice and roomy. And as in the photo below you can see that the back pockets are situated fairly low, but that is not a problem as I don't put anything in my back pockets.

For this first style I wore them with my trusted hoodie and t-shirt. Put some nice black shoes on to make it less casual than with trainers. But I also have worn these jeans out for a more dressed up occasion as my wife and I took my mother out for cream tea last weekend and this is how that looked.

I've had worn them for a couple of weeks now and they have been washed a few times with no fading. They keep their shape. No need for ironing, a quick tumble drying get the creases out, and are a great buy if you look for jeans you can wear for many different occasions.

I will be back in a few days with another jeans review so if you liked this review why not leave me a comment below.

See you later, Mike :)

The Little Red Dress Styled 3 Ways

The Little Red Dress Styled 3 Ways

Red is one of the colours I've got most of in my wardrobe. I love this colour. Maybe it's to signalise that I'm not scared to be seen? Or maybe it is because I feel full of life in it? It is definitely a colour that gives me an energy and self confidence boost, and I think it's a mix of the above that makes me enjoy wearing red. Red is my go to colour on days I want a bit of an extra push or if the weather is really depressing.

With zips being everywhere as an accessory right now I was thrilled when I saw this dress from Simply Be*. It's a textured fit and flare dress and it's a perfect red colour.

I really like this dress. I wouldn't say I love it, but it's a very good all around fit and flare dress that can go with most things you're wearing. I like the length of it and the fabric has a lovely feel to it as it's kind of a waffle texture to it. I like it that it is sleeveless as well cause it just increases the way I can style it. I don't like it that the zip goes all the way up to under my chin, but this is more my personal preference since I like having an open chest. So for me this dress would have worked even better if the zip stopped a couple of inches down.

I've chosen three different styles to show you how easy you can make this dress to go from a casual day out for a walk outfit to a more night on the town look. So here we go.

Jumper from Boohoo via Asos (sold out)
Dress (HERE)*
Leggings from Sainsburys
Wellies from Wide Wellies. Review (HERE)*

With this first look I've worn it as part of a casual walking outfit with a thick jumper and wellies. It looks effortless and cute.

For the second look I've chosen this.

Western Style Denim Jacket from Simply Be (HERE)*
Dress from Simply Be as above*
Tight from Primark
Boots from Simply Be (Old)

It's more of a going to a cafe with a friend look or even going to a gig. Added a stylish cropped denim jacket and some amazing animal print boots. Lots and lots of silver bangles just adds to the outfit.

Jacket from Navabi with lovely material.

Jacket from Shenzi via Navabi (HERE)
Dress from Simply Be as above*

Boots from Evans (Old)

For the third look I chose to wear it as an outfit I would wear out for a meal with my husband or even out for a night on the town. I've sparkled it up a bit with patent knee high boots and a blingy belt. I'm also wearing my lovely jacket from Navabi.

What look do you think worked best and how would you style the little red dress?
