Subtle animal print

Subtle animal print

Today's outfit to the office I went for quite a plain style as I chose only two colours, red and black. It is my favourite colour combination. I wanted my outfit to be quite simple as I wanted to show off  two of my newest animal print buys. My black animal print skirt from River Island and my lovely necklace from lovely Abigail from Glitz and Bobs.

I saw this skirt online and instantly loved the subtle animal print in the skirt. I would actually be able to pull off wearing this skirt for work without getting too many strange looks. Some people has got an aversion for animal print, but I absolutely love animal print. The more the better! My only concern ordering this skirt was that it only went up to a size 18 and since I'm normally a size 20/22 in bottoms I was a bit worried while I was waiting for it to arrive.

It arrived yesterday and I tried it on and it fit!!! I was so happy. The skirt looked so nice in real life and the pattern was very subtle, but still gave the skirt edge to it.Elasticated waistband helps the size 18 to fit my tummy;)

I chose to wear it with a plain black top and a red long cardigan and leggings as the skirt is very short, so it is too short for me to wear with just tights. I thought that this outfit would be the right canvas to show off my new necklace and let that be the centre piece of my outfit today. Isn't it gorgeous??? It is bought from a shop over at Etsy called Glitz and Bobs and Abigail that hand makes these lovely necklaces she had a half price offer on right after payday so I made the most of that and ordered a couple of necklaces. I have ordered a brooch before and that was so nice that I decided to try some more. The necklaces comes wrapped in this cute little box and nice wrapping with sparkly bits inside and yesterday Abigail had even added a candy lolly in the box. The special little touch that makes it so much personal and nice. Like a special little present. If you like my necklace head over to her store and get yourself some lovely jewelry for a bargain price!

Do you ever buy things from Etsy?

New Look Inspire Ruffle Sleeved Dress.

New Look Inspire Ruffle Sleeved Dress.

Dress-New Look, Cardigan-Primark, Boots-Evans, Leggings -Sainsburys, Handbag-David Jones, Necklace-Bought in Wales in a handmade jewelry store in Tenby.
This dress I bought when I went to see Leah from Just Me Leah and we went shopping at New Look. I saw it straight away and fell in love with it. I love feminine dresses in light flowy fabrics and this one tick those boxes and in addition it has this lovely deep teal colour that is so flattering to all skin colours. You can find the dress HERE, but it is low on stock and some sizes sold out. I hate trying on things in the shop, so I bought it in size 26 as 24 looked very little and I always need to go up in size in fabric that doesn't give. And for me 26 was the correct size as it gave me enough room for my boobs. The fabric is lovely and not clingy at all. I love the design of it with the V-neck and the ruffles to the capped sleeves. It has an elasticated waist which on me is a bit too high as once again my boobs require the space. It's not a big problem cause as you can see in the pictures it just makes the dress go in under my boobs. It's a lovely dress that you can wear to the office, but quickly turn into a lovely little frock for a night out as well. And for a bargain price of £19.99 you can't go wrong.

I also used my new David Jones handbag. I love his handbags and this one I got on a sale for a bargain price of £10. I couldn't believe it as I loved the colour and style of the handbag. This yellow one is not as versatile as a black handbag, but I like colloured handbags as they can liven up any boring outfit.
I also wore my new Evans boots and my favourite leggings that I buy from Sainsburys. I have to make a post about leggings as I love leggings and so far no other ordinary black leggings can come close to Sainsburys ones. Cardigan is an old one from Primark that I think goes well with most things due to the nice see through pattern at the front of it.

Is it possible to be fat and happy?

Is it possible to be fat and happy?

Bubbles really makes me happy!!
Is it just me or does anyone else get really upset when someone compliment you on losing weight? I get really upset. I have had to start losing weight due to health reasons so I know that I will have to lose this weight sooner or later if I want to maintain a good life in the future. Both my parents died of heart problems and they were fit and healthy people, so by me being obese as the doctors refer to it as I have to start losing the weight now to avoid my condition from getting worse. I have taken the dieting slowly so far as it is a change for life.

I'm happy as big and don't want to lose weight. I feel so nice and my self confidence have never been better. I have never felt more at ease with myself, never been more stylish and never been happier. So when people make comments about my weight loss they think it should make me happier, but it doesn't as I feel it as an insult. Why is it that some or may I say most people think that skinnier is always nicer and prettier? It's almost like you are not supposed to be happy when you are fat, or like to make the best of yourself. Happiness doesn't have anything to do with how you look. I mean the weather probably affects my mood more than my weight. There is a lot of unhappy thin people, cause everyone has something you can be unhappy about. Your hair, your big nose, your baldness and so on. If you have friends, family and colleagues around you that respect you for you and most of all you accept and respect yourself then that is two really good happiness factors in life. It's all the little things in life that matters. Like an unexpected hug, a smile from a stranger on the street, a peaceful moment in a hectic day or a crispy cold sunny winters day.

I have had so many stupid comments from narrow minded people so I feel more sorry for them. This can be comments like "how have you managed to get so fat?", " you are actually really smart", "I know sex positions that you obviously can't do" and things that are so ridiculous that they are not worth mentioning. I'm sure most of you have heard similar things. I have been fat most of my grown up life, but never let that stop me from doing anything. I have lived my life to the fullest and I'm always doing fun things. I don't lay on the sofa eating chocolate every day all year around, I have busy weekends and weeknights because I'm out doing things that enriches my life even if I'm fat. So my answer to this blog titles question is ABSOLUTELY!!!

Have you ever had to defend being happy and fat?

I hate blouses, but....

I hate blouses, but....

Today for work I went a bit out of my comfort zone as I wore a blouse to the office. Blouses are something I hardly ever wear and I only have two in my wardrobe. Mostly to have them there in case I need to go to an interview in the future sometime or if it a very dressed up occasion at work.I was browsing Simply Be and saw this blouse and it immediately appealed to me. I loved the shape, the lovely dusky pink colour and of course the polka dots!!!
I put it on this morning and the first thing I noticed was that there was no stretch in it. I have a certain habbit of buying clothes and them leaving them in the plastic without trying it on until I decide to wear it. I normally don't like wearing things without stretch it as I find it very uncomfortable over my big chest and I'm always scared that it will be too tight as it kind of gives the "one boob" effect. But I had no reason to worry as it fit perfectly. I loved the feel of the soft fabric straight away. And it fell really nicely over my boobs. I decided to wear it with my favourite skirt at the moment. This little beauty from New Look.( I wear it all the time and it is so versatile. And a bargain at only £12.99. ) I wore my Big Bloomers Company tights and ankle boots with frills from F&F. I felt so nice for the office and felt really comfortable and smart all day. It surprised me that I liked looking so preppy so I might buy some more pretty blouses in the future. I got lots of compliments and people said that it suited me a lot.
What kind of clothes takes you out of your comfort zone?

Weekend in Hastings.

Weekend in Hastings.

I went to Hastings this weekend to meet up with lovely Leah from Just me Leah and to do some sightseeing and shopping as well.

Hastings is a lovely town and meeting up with Leah was great! We went for a bit of shopping as well and New Look in Hastings was really good. Great Inspire section. Best Inspire I have visited. So of course I used the opportunity to buy a few things that I will be blogging about very soon. They had a sale on so I got a really stunning animal flocked dress for £11. Bargain!! Looking forward to showing the dress on here as I love it.

I also bought some new make up. I bought this absolutely stunning nail polish from Miss Sporty for a bargain price of £1.99. Isn't it stunning? I saw it as soon as we came into Superdrug and I said to Leah that it was the most beautiful nail polish ever. I am into the whole metallic theme now with metallic nails, metallic eye shadows and shiny jumpers and dresses, so it really caught my eye. I tried it on tonight and I love it. Here I'm wearing two layers as one did not cover it good enough for my liking, but at that bargain price it doesn't matter using more. You can buy it here if you like it as much as me.

Leah, me and my husband went for a walk around in Hastings and Leah kindly was our guide. She also took us to the quirky nice pub in old Town called Ye OldePumphouse which was really nice and we had a nice lunch.

It was so nice to spend a bit of time with lovely Leah. She is just as I thought she was. Happy, very friendly and so easy to speak to. Already looking forward to next time we meet!!!

After Leah had gone home to nurse her poorly husband, who I hope to meet next time, Mike and I went to see the big bonfire and fireworks as it was bonfire night in Hastings on Saturday. Leah had said it would be spectacular and she was absolutely right. First it was a big procession with town criers, people dressed up in all kind of outfits and uniforms. We kind of followed the stream of people and ended up in a square near the beach where we waited for the procession to get there. They had built a large bonfire that we saw earlier in the day and when that was lit on fire all the people cheered and clapped. The bonfire was impressive, but what was most impressive was the fireworks.  It was the best fireworks display I have ever seen. Tried to take some nice photos, with mixed result. It kind of felt like fireworks you would see at an event of national proportions like the Olympics or the Royal Wedding. Really lovely. It was my first bonfire night(for those of you not English or don't know what bonfire night is please read HERE)  as well since I moved to England so Mike said I couldn't expect a show like that at other bonfire nights from now on.

The B&B we stayed in wasn't that great, but it was just a place to sleep so I didn't care that much. I had a lovely time and I will definitely be visiting Hastings and Leah again.

What did you do over the weekend?

Big Bloomers Company

Big Bloomers Company

Paris Lady, Sorry for quality for the first four photos.

As you can see they are very stretchy and there is a lot of room.

I can easily drag them over my boobs;)

I'm not scared they will ladder.

All woman

Another pair of very stretchy tights

Even more room for big hips.

Over my big fat belly is always a plus!

Great stretch in the legs

And the thighs.
Lovely Laura at Big Bloomers Company kindly sent me two different pairs of their plus size tights for me to review. I can say from the start that I wasn't disappointed!

Laura sent the  All Woman 60 denier microfiber in size 22/32 and the Paris Lady Microfiber UK size 34/36.

The first pair I tried was the Paris Lady and as soon as I took them out of the packet I loved them. The material was so soft and felt so luxurious that I could tell the difference from other tights I have worn straight away. Felt like velvet to my skin. I put them on and it was so easy! Normally I really struggle to put on a pair of tights cause they are so small and really tight. It's almost painful to put on normal tights. These on the other hand were so comfortable to put on and the amount of elastic in them made it super easy to pull up. And by pulling up I really mean pulling up. These were too big for me(I'm normally a size 20-22 in trousers, but these were sent to me in size 34/36 that can fit hip sizes up to 68", I'm 51" over my hips), but that is not a complaint, that is a plus. I really loved it that I could pull them up so high. I could have pulled them over my head if I wanted to that is how elastic they were. I'm 5'6 and I felt like they were too long in the body, but not in the legs. I wore them an entire day in the office and later around to a friend, walking around a lot and bending and doing lots of different movements and they stayed in place the whole time. No need to pull them up! I was in love! And since they did not feel too long in the legs they felt wonderfully in shape the whole day and the comfort is beyond words. The thickness of them is really good for the winter and they feel warm and pleasant. The material is lovely matt finish as well, and that is another big plus about them as a lot of Opaque tights seem to be very glossy.  I almost feel like I have been going around for 38 years without knowing that these existed and I almost feel cheated cause my tights life from now on won't be the same.

Plusses with Paris Lady Microfiber
  • Very elastic
  • Nice thickness for winter
  • Comes in four colours, black, deep purple, deep pink and slate.
  • Can fit hips up to 68"
  • Very strong
  • Flat seams
  • Stay in place all day
  • Soft
Negatives
  • Price
The tights are a bit on the pricey side at £16.95 a pair, but I think they are worth the money as they are so strong and comfortable. I don't think you would need more than a couple to last you a whole winter and you would definitely think it is worth it due to the comfort.

The second one the All woman I tried the following day. I had been sent size 22/32 which was a great fit for me. They weren't as big as the other pair, but just as elastic and easy to put on as the Paris Lady. The All woman seemed thinner although it says 60 den on the packet. But although they seemed thinner they felt just as durable and strong as the other pair. I wore them for an entire day at the office with a short skirt. A girl in the office asked where my tights were from as they looked so posh. I told her and after she felt them said that she wanted some as well, although she is slim. The All Woman has got a cotton gusset. The shape of these holds just as good as Paris Lady and they also have got the same elastic as the Paris Lady. In my pictures you can see how I strech them and not once was I scared that they would ladder. That goes for both pairs.

Plusses with All Woman
  • Nice elastic
  • Great fit
  • Feels like second skin
  • No seems that digs in
  • Fit hips to 60"
  • Comes in two colours black and make up(please see their website, but it is a brown colour)

Negatives with All woman

  • Price again
The price for the All Woman is £12.95per pair, although you can save if you buy three pairs for £34.95.

Overall I preferred the Paris Lady ones, but I know I will be returning for more of both.

Big Bloomers Company certainly cater for us big girls in the tights department and these tights will be able to please everyone from size 20+.

These tights are the best tights I have ever worn!

Please visit their website here as they have a great assortment of plus size tights, hosiery and other lingerie. Big Bloomers Company has got an offer on as well that gives you one free pair if you buy any 6 of their tights.

*These tights were kindly gifted to me of Big Bloomers Company, but this review is based on my views and experience of wearing both pairs through the whole day.
